Bif Johnson, PE
President/CEO
Bif is a graduate of Virginia Tech and is the President and Chief Executive Officer at Hurt & Proffitt. His expertise is broad and covers most aspects of civil engineering design and construction.

Matt Leslie, CPA
Chief Financial Officer/ Secretary Treasurer
Matt is the CFO of Hurt & Proffitt and also serves as the Board’s Secretary/Treasurer. A graduate of Liberty University, he is a Certified Public Accountant.

Troy Williams, LS
Senior Vice President: Survey
Troy Williams is the Senior Vice President of Survey at Hurt & Proffitt and has risen progressively through the ranks of the survey department as his years of experience accrued. Throughout his career he has coordinated and managed many large scale geodetic mapping projects for road and utility design and has built and maintained relationships with clients that have been strengthened with time and successful projects.

Patrick Proffitt, PE
Senior Vice President: Special Projects
Pat is a graduate of UNC Charlotte and has diversified experience in site development calculations, engineering design, site preparation, utility design, roadway design, stormwater management,erosion and sediment control.

Brian Cossman, PE, LEED AP, PMP, CCM
Vice President: Business Development
Brian is a graduate of the University of Dayton and earned his Master of Engineering Project Management from the University of Maryland. He interfaces directly with our clients to define their goals, achieve client satisfaction, and expedite project success.

Jessica Littlejohn, PE
Vice President: Business Development
Jess is a Virginia Tech graduate. She assists in our day-to-day business development activities meeting with current and prospective clients.

Earl Dickerson, PE
Vice President: Business Development
Earl is a graduate of Virginia Tech. He has years of professional engineering experience and currently assists in our day-to-day business development activities meeting with current and prospective clients.

Trent Warner, PE
Vice President: Director of Engineering - Lynchburg
Trent is a graduate of VMI, and manages and provides oversight to the Lynchburg engineering departments. He communicates regularly with both our clients and engineers to deliver successful projects.

Dennis Amos, PE
Vice President: Director of Engineering - Blacksburg
Dennis is a graduate of West Virginia University. He provides leadership to the Blacksburg Municipal, Land Development, and Transportation departments. He facilitates collaboration between our engineers and clients resulting in successful projects.

Mike Wilson, PE
Director of Municipal Engineering: Lynchburg
Mike’s civil engineering experience is diverse and includes water system/sewer system design, modeling sanitary sewer systems for infiltration / inflow, as well as analyzing and reporting information collected for contaminated sites. He also has extensive experience with dams and impoundments for public and private clients.

Adam Bryant, LS
Vice President: Director of Surveying - Lynchburg
Adam Bryant is the Director of Surveying in Lynchburg, and has moved progressively throughout his time with Hurt & Proffitt. He manages the survey department in Lynchburg while continuing to manage projects for several existing and new clients. He has overseen a broad spectrum of survey projects with a focus on large scale boundary surveys at private, state and federal levels. He is currently licensed in Virginia, West Virginia and the U.S. Territory of Guam.

Chris Kaknis, LS
Vice President: Blacksburg Survey
Chris’ experience includes all aspects of surveying. He has worked closely with VDOT and gained complete mastery of their rules and methodology. He interfaces with clients and survey managers and provides oversight to facilitate successful projects. He is licensed in Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina.

Bradley Tate, LS
Vice President: Wytheville Office Survey Manager
Bradley Tate is the manager of the Wytheville office and Director of Survey. He is a graduate of Emory and Henry College with a Masters Degree in Project Management from East Tennessee State University and is a native of Bland County. He has overseen and managed a broad spectrum of survey projects and has been involved with several large scale mapping projects throughout southwest Virginia. He has established and maintained an intimate presence within the local community of Wytheville and surrounding counties.

Ken Meritt, PG, PE
Vice President: Director of Geotechnical and Materials Testing
Ken has a variety of experience in the geotechnical, environmental and construction fields. He has extensive experience in subsurface drilling investigations, earthwork evaluation and suitability studies.

Chris Nixon
Vice President: Director of Environmental Services
Chris has extensive experience within the environmental and industrial hygiene industry. He holds several certifications and/or licenses including Asbestos Inspector, Management Planner, Abatement Designer, Project Monitor and Lead Risk Assessor, etc.

Christina Dudley, SHRM-SCP, SPHR
Director of Human Resources
Christina is the Director of Human Resources at Hurt & Proffitt. She is a Virginia Tech graduate, with extensive experience in human capital management.
