Georgia-Pacific Corporation is a highly regarded, nationwide manufacturer of paper, packaging and building  products. The Central Virginia area is fortunate to have two of its facilities. And Hurt & Proffitt is fortunate to have been asked over the years to provide professional services at both.

At Georgia-Pacific’s facility in Bedford County, VA (in the Big Island community), Hurt & Proffitt provided all geotechnical investigations and surveying services (topo, boundary, and construction) for a $120 million facilities expansion. This expansion has been a resounding success and has significantly boosted the plant’s output.

Some 50 miles away is Georgia-Pacific’s facility in Campbell County, VA (in the Naruna community). This is GP’s OSB (oriented strand board) manufacturing plant. Here, Hurt & Proffitt’s engineers were asked to design a new public water system to serve this new $200 million facility.

Georgia-Pacific often asks Hurt & Proffitt to provide other routine services, too, such as surveying and environmental assessments. We are pleased to do so.
