Norfolk International Terminals

Virginia’s ports are among the busiest and most successful ones on the East Coast.
Norfolk International Terminals is one of four general cargo terminals operated by the Virginia Port Authority. The whole port complex is the largest in the United States.
It’s at NIT that container ships from all over the world arrive to unload and pick up goods (we trade with more than 100 nations). It’s also at NIT that you’ll find the largest container cranes in the world. The port complex really is quite a fascinating place.
Hurt & Proffitt’s surveyors have played a significant role in the replacement of more than 80 acres of concrete pavement in the NIT container yard. Our surveyors provided construction stakeout and set controls for the primary contractor. They also provided as-built drawings for the nearly two-year project.
