Appomattox Wastewater Treatment Facility

In historic Appomattox, there is a lot still going on. And Hurt & Proffitt is pleased to be a part of the local scene.
When the Town of Appomattox found it necessary to upgrade its wastewater treatment plant, we were pleased to help them.
Our engineers upgraded the plant’s capacity from 54,000 gallons per day to 300,000 gpd. Our work also involved abandoning an existing 2.3-acre lagoon and converting to a sequence batch reactor system with grit-removal, a septage receiving station, ultraviolet disinfection, and tertiary filtration. The project further called for a 9,000-foot outfall extension into the south fork of the Appomattox River.
Hurt & Proffitt’s engineers, surveyors, and planners have a long history of providing just this kind of major utility design to local governments all over Central, Southside, and Southwestern Virginia. |
