Blue Ridge Regional Jail

Lynchburg is home to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail. This is a facility serving the cities of Bedford and Lynchburg and the counties of Appomattox, Bedford, Campbell, and Halifax.

The main 430-bed facility is in Lynchburg, and there are satellite jails in the counties. All in all, the Blue Ridge Regional Jail can be the “temporary home” to more than 900 people.

The main facility in Lynchburg is situated between two downtown historical districts. The design reflects the community’s desire to see that it blends nicely with Lynchburg’s existing architecture. It does.

Hurt & Proffitt provided all civil engineering, surveying, site planning, environmental assessments, and geotechnical investigations. Capital costs totaled more than $60 million.
