Presbyterian Homes & Family Services Playground Facility

Hurt & Proffitt has provided survey and civil engineering services to Presbyterian Homes & Family Services for a five Star Playground facility for two to five year old children. The project includes a modular play system, water play area, two shade structures and a perimeter trike path. Hurt & Proffitt was responsible for layout coordination with the owner and playground equipment vendor as well as providing storm drainage and establishing key elevations to allow the placement of the playground equipment, trike path and shelters.

Hurt & Proffitt has worked on multiple Sheetz Convenience Store sites in Virginia. Since the goal of Sheetz is to be more than just a convenience store, providing ready accessibility is essential to development. Hurt and Proffitt’s broad range of services is ideal for dealing with these specific requirements and challenges. We have provided professional services in all aspects of site development from initial site selection through construction.

Our professional engineering services include feasibility studies, boundary and topographic survey, subdivision plats and Alta surveys, and geotechnical investigations. Our engineers have prepared construction documents showing site layout, stormwater management features for quality and quantity, erosion and sediment control plans, and utility plans including sanitary sewer design. We assist with carrying these plans through the approval and permitting process. Hurt and Proffitt has also provided a wide range of environmental services for sites that are undeveloped and those that have been previously developed. Our environmental services include Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, asbestos testing, Underground Storage Tank removal observations, soil sampling, and well abandonment services.

Walgreens Pharmacies

Hurt & Proffitt has worked on a number of Walgreens sites all over the state of Virginia. Each store is between 14,550 and 14,820 SF and the sites have ranged from 1.5 to 2.5 acres. Hurt & Proffitt, Inc., has completed the site designs for locations in Lynchburg, Pulaski, and Marion. Additional sites are currently in progress.

Hurt & Proffitt provided site designs, feasibility studies, preliminary work, and surveying. Hurt & Proffitt also performed a topographic survey, aerial mapping, site development, erosion & sediment control plan, stormwater management, utility design, geotechnical investigation, project management and construction administration for the additions to any existing facilities.

Select Bank

Hurt & Proffitt provided professional services for the headquarters of the start-up financial institution, Select Bank. The two-story, 13,557 SF bank building is located in Forest, Virginia on a 1.58 acre lot. In the initial phase of the project, Hurt & Proffitt provided planning and design services for a temporary bank facility located on an adjacent lot. After approvals and permits were obtained for the temporary structure, Hurt & Proffitt began the design for the main site.

Hurt & Proffitt provided topographic survey, site design, erosion and sediment control planning, stormwater design, utility design, project management, and construction administration.

Hurt & Proffitt has worked on multiple BB&T bank sites in Virginia. Small branches are approximately 3,500 SF with two drive-thru lanes and one ATM lane on 1.25 to 1.5 acres.  The larger branches are usually above 10,000 SF with four drive-thru lanes and one ATM lane on approximately 3.0 acres.  Hurt & Proffitt has completed services for sites in Danville, Moneta, Madison Heights, Luray, Front Royal, Martinsville, Stephen City, Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, Gainesville, Herndon, Appomattox, Vinton, and Bristow.  Sites in Winchester, Narrows, and Chatham are currently under evaluation.

Hurt & Proffitt provides due diligence studies, feasibility analysis, topographic and boundary survey, geotechnical investigations, site development, erosion & sediment control plans, stormwater management plans, utility design, municipal approvals, project management, and construction reviews for most sites.

Hurt & Proffitt has provided services for the construction of new facilities and/or the renovation/additions to existing facilities for  many restaurants in Central and Southside Virginia. These projects include many locally- owned restaurants such as Libby Hill Seafood Restaurant, Charley’s Restaurant, and Town & Country Restaurant. National franchise projects include Bojangles, Pizza Hut, Applebee’s, Golden Corral, Fazoli’s, Dairy Queen, Arby’s, Shoney’s and McDonald’s.

Hurt & Proffitt prepared a range of services on numerous projects over the past 10 years. Not all services were provided for each project. These services included: preliminary engineering reports, preliminary layouts, site development, surveying (topo, boundary, subdivision, ALTA, construction stakeout, wetlands), geotechnical investigations, stormwater management, utility infrastructure, entrance roadway design, landscape architecture, materials testing, and construction administration/ inspection.
